So what the heck is your ascendant in astrology, my friends? You are not alone in that thinking. For years, I wondered why I never aligned with my Leo archetype. I am a Leo Sun Sign, Taurus Rising. I was always really quiet and grounded, and Leo was always so courageous and bold and loud. And these were completely opposite energies that I’ve had to learn to embrace.
The rising sign is one of the first topics we dive into deep when studying astrology. As you begin to uncover your rising sign, a whole new world of characteristics and traits starts to stand out and speak to you on a deeper level.
The beginning
Your ascend marks the very beginning. The moment your soul incarnates in this lifetime, in your body, and takes its very first breath.
Your birth date and birth time produce a snapshot of the sky. That exact moment determines the layout for your entire chart, which includes the most important angles.
Angles
Your 1st house is of the self, your early childhood experience, your body, your perspective of the world, and what is most important to you.
Then the fourth house, which is your home and family. Again, this is your early childhood experience within your family and the family you bring to life along your journey.
The 7th is your house of professional and personal relationships and the contracts that show up throughout your lifetime.
The 10th house. Your 10th house of the legacy of career and public standing. These are the four most essential angles in your entire chart.
Soul Rising
Now, Your rising sign. This is the lens you view the world through. And this is how the world views you.
For the longest time, nobody viewed me as this Leo archetype, even though that was the only sign I ever knew growing up.
I had little moments of a lioness, but they were few and far between when I was younger. I've learned to embrace these qualities today because my soul has been set free. And I finally understand how to optimize my chart.
So your ascendant and ascendant ruler, the planet that rules over the Zodiac sign, is sitting in that first house for you.
These hold significant clues and characteristics as some of the powerful themes playing out along your lifetime. And in the ways that you start to respond to those life experiences.
Synthesize the chart
Like every other part of your chart, this is only a tiny fraction of what is playing out on a larger scale. Your rising sign and any other planets, points, or markers in your chart must be translated as a whole.
When you read your chart holistically, next-level awareness, really arts, takes hold. Once I understood the difference between my sun and my rising sign, it began to make sense.
I always responded to life so differently than many people around me. But instead of me feeling like an outcast, I have been able to identify, accept and embrace the beautiful qualities, challenging or not, that belongs to me.
Once you can embrace these qualities, you can appreciate and integrate these characteristics in empowering ways, not only in your life but also in your business.
