Reading your Astrology Chart

Do you ever wonder why certain patterns repeat? Why do you respond to life in certain ways? Or if there was just this grand design for your life that you're unsure of. If you've answered yes to any of those questions, then stick around because you're going to love this! In today's video, I want to take you through, through a few, just the beginning layers of your astrology chart. So you can begin to understand why every single part of that birth chart is unique to you and what it's doing, and how to start to read it.

In practice, Astrology is a game of research; synthesizing each layer for a greater understanding and a genuine awareness is a beautiful practice for beginners. This process sounds like quite a feat; no matter how long you've been in practice, understanding the basics is always the best place to start.

Planets

In a nutshell, you are far more beautiful and unique, way beyond your sun sign. Each of the planets holds a special signification of specific energy at play in Modern Western Astrology, which is the type of astrology that I practice. We have ten planets, eight planets, including the two luminaries, the sun and the moon.

We have five personal planets. We have the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars as your personal planets; they are directly related to your personal everything. And then we have transpersonal planets with Saturn and Jupiter. Then we have generational planets, aka outer planets, which affect generations at a time. And that is Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. 

Zodiac Signs

Now the Zodiac signs, we all carry each of the 12 energies from each Zodiac sign in one area of life. So as you dive into your soul grow reference guide, I challenge you to start to uncover all of these beautiful layers that make up you. Locate which sign is over, which house, and the energy, that colors that area of your life for a deeper understanding of what is at play on a daily level.

Signs by Element

Now Zodiac signs. I have grouped these by elements. So for fire signs, we have Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. For earth signs, we have Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. And water signs, we have Cancer Scorpio and Pisces. And then, for air signs, we have Gemini Libra and Aquarius.

House System

Now the house system, if you're looking at a natal chart, you will see that the chart is divided. So in my practice, I use a whole sign house system, and there are many different house systems in astrology, and it is all based on your astrologer and their preference. When I was first starting, I was using Placidus, but as I have moved through my studies and in practice, I have found whole sign house systems to be the most accurate and really being able to pinpoint what is going on. And I've had great success with my clients. So this is my house system of choice. With a whole sign house system, each house is divided into 12 equal pieces. 

Each of those houses is ruled by a specific energy, the Zodiac, and then each of those houses also may have a tenant inside, which is a planet. So all of those wonderful layers begin to tell a story. And this story is what is running in the background of your life! 

How to read your natal chart - techniques

The techniques used are all personal to your astrologer and how they understand the information and then relay it to the client. As one of my mentors mentioned the phenomenal Nadiya Shah, think of the planets as the actors, then the Zodiac signs are the costumes, and each of the 12 houses is the stages. So depending on where these planets are, the costumes that they are wearing, and the area of life they are showing up, there is a grand story playing out here. And this is just the beginning!
